I'm home from my week long camping trip!
Technically I was home yesterday, but since I was out and about with T, I wasn't around much because I was having fun with her.
My week was long...ver long...
Over all, it was an amazing fest and everyone enjoyed themselves. And the weather was amazing and wonderful! After the big storm Wed. morning (we open for people to arrive and register Wed. afternoon) we had 70 degree cool and nice breezes the entire week. Ver. Lovely.
And now, I'm at work. I work the rest of this week and the first half of next week and then I head to EIU next Friday. Or Saturday pending if mom can get off of work.
Technically I was home yesterday, but since I was out and about with T, I wasn't around much because I was having fun with her.
My week was long...ver long...
- Saturday - Monday we got in and set up the camp for the fest.
- Tuesday night it poured but everything was alright. Well, at the campground. Our basement back home flooded. My friend was kind enough to pump our basement out for us...she was there until midnight.
- Wed. morning it POURED...and it was windy as fuck. The storm knocked the registration tent, which is a 10 by 20 canopy, over on it's side. That...may have been our fault to a point because we hadn't staked or tied it down. My tent...my wonderful, lovely, tent...was taken by the storm and twisted and then filled with water. I'd been sleeping up with my parents because I hadn't been feeling well, which just leaves me glad I and my stuff weren't in it during the storm. Dad and Ken were able to fix it though. One pole is about two inches shorter but you don't really notice, and one pole has been duct taped, but it's the actual pole and not the connection so ti still folds away like it's supposed to. So over all my tent, while injured forever now, still works fine.
- Wed. late morning, I got a text from my friend saying our basement looked exactly like it did before she pumped it out Tuesday night. So mom and I drove back home so we could take care of it. My friend offered, but I didn't want to risk her being there until midnight. Much love, but it's our house and she shouldn't get stuck with the responsibility.
- Wed. night mom and I drove back to the campground (now, this is like a three hour drive, so it's not an easy thing to hop back and forth). We got in about midnight, at which point my tent still didn't have any of my stuff so I crashed at the trailer with my parents.
- Thursday I got to see people, hug people, have some fun with people, and finally get my stuff in my tent. Air mattress air condensed in the night because it got fing cold. My hip ended up on the ground. I was sad. =( I also crashed early Thursday night, missing the drinking and drumming because I was so tired from being sick and the drive Wed.
- Friday in the morning mom and I drove around to get me a new memory card for my camera and to order the fruit for the feast. Afternoon was to put said memory card to use, recording the discussion on sharing traditions. It was a good and interesting talk. Night was Follies, where we had 'You might be a redneck Pagan if...' and songs from 'Three Wicked Wenches'. I have video. 'Nuff said. And ver late night there was drumming and drinking had.
- Saturday morning, mom and I picked up said fruit from local people. Their white peaches were AMAZING! I had one for breakfast. ^_^ Then it was the 3rd Annual Duck Races where an adult beat the kids. If I could show you the video, you'd understand why this makes me go o.O It involves lots of running back and forth around a slip 'n slide. Saturday night was Auction and then MmM! Feast! Pig roast was so delicious and tasty and I loved it. Saturday late night was main ritual and then drumming and drinking.
- Sunday was for nursing hangovers, packing up, and saying goodbye. Almost everything, fest and personal was put away and done by Sunday night, which was very good. And we all had left overs of the feast food.
- Monday was tear down for my tent and then finalizing the put away of stuff after a wonderful breakfast with left over eggs no one wanted to take home. Ver. Good. We were actually on the road before noon Monday, which surprised me a hell of a lot. And it got us home about 5 after unpacking the car.
