thewrittenfaeSo. For the last week, we've been told that they're shutting off the water in our building. Like, completely, no sinks, no bathrooms, no water fountains, nothing. Which means that we have to go across the street for bathrooms and what not if we're in the building.
There's been bitching left and right because it's against OSHA regulations to have a building open with no bathrooms. Especially since we have labs running experiments and we have lecture halls and classes and TAs and what not.
But fine. We put up signs, the Physics Department closed completely, WE almost closed completely, and for all intent and purpose we might as well have closed. All the labs for professors were shut down in preparation for this, a lot of professors didn't come in today, and to boot our staff (which totals 15 people) has been reduced to 6 people because so many took off with the option of no bathrooms. And that number will shortly be reduced to 5 after about 12:30pm.
So...yea. While I'm glad that we have water so I don't have to worry about bathrooms, the fact that the entire building prepared for this and then then canceled it was crap.
